Environmental Remediation Engineer - Location flexible

SynTerra is looking for an engineer to lead our Environmental Remediation team and help our clients succeed. You should have 5-10 years of experience in environmental assessment and remediation, designing solutions for affected groundwater and soil. This position requires the ability to manage deadlines and deliverables, while also delegating tasks to team members. This position requires the ability to work independently on specific tasks and in collaboration with clients and other environmental professionals.

*Office location is flexible, with ability to work remotely.

Responsibilities:

The Environmental Remediation engineer will oversee remediation projects that address affected soil, soil vapor, sediment, surface water, or groundwater. You will prepare or direct the following:

  • Feasibility studies for remedial action alternatives
  • Conceptual remedial action plans and documents
  • Remedial action figures and drawings
  • Collaboration with detailed design engineers for plans and drawings for remediation systems as the engineer of record
  • Implementation of remedial systems, including coordinating subcontractors
  • Operation and maintenance of remedial systems, particularly in identifying problems and assisting with correcting the identified problems

Requirements

The Environmental Engineer’s main role is to manage multiple projects in collaboration with Business Unit Leaders. The responsibility of this role is to take projects from the original concept and proposal phase through final implementation and closure. This position interfaces with all project aspects, including project team members, clients, other stakeholders, and vendors.

We provide assessment and remediation services on a wide variety of projects for a very diverse set of clients, primarily within the Southeastern United States.

This job offers broad flexibility for location/hybrid remote conditions.

Position snapshot:

  • Fill the lead position in client, project, and resource management.
  • Assemble the project team, assign individual responsibilities of the team members, and identify appropriate resources needed to ensure project completion.
  • Prepare project schedules to ensure timely completion of the project.
  • Review project deliverables and ensure adherence to SynTerra data and document quality standards.
  • Prepare proposals and project change requests (PCRs) with assistance from other team members as needed.
  • Review and finalize proposals and PCRs prior to submittal to clients.

  • At least six (6) years of relevant experience as an environmental consultant or an environmental manager for a manufacturer is required. At least four (4) years of experience with project management is required.
  • Ability to understand regulations, and present regulatory compliance options to clients.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following areas: air emissions inventories, calculations, and permit preparation; Tier II and TRI reporting; SPCCP and SWPPP preparation; environmental regulatory compliance management; wastewater treatment design; stormwater permitting and stormwater control design.

Asbestos/Lead Inspector Project Scientist - Cary, NC

The civil or environmental engineering project manager will be responsible for the following in addition to project work:

• Submit timesheets and expense reports weekly.

• Provide signature level at certain thresholds.

• Assemble the project team, assign individual responsibilities to team members, and identify appropriate resources needed to ensure project completion.

• Prepare project schedules to ensure timely completion of the project.

Requirements:

Project Scientist/Hydrogeologist - Greenville, SC

SynTerra is looking for a qualified Project Scientist/Hydrogeologist who can offer our clients their expertise. This position requires 2-4 years of experience with groundwater flow and transport modeling; environmental sampling, assessment, and remediation; or other relevant areas of expertise and experience in an applicable discipline. Responsibilities:

  • Constructing numerical fate and transport models (MODFLOW/MT3DMS/MODPATH) to characterize and quantify groundwater flow patterns and mobile constituent transport processes.
  • Evaluating complex geologic and hydrogeologic systems using various tools and methodologies.
  • Assisting in the design and optimization of monitoring programs and engineered systems including landfills, drainage channels, stability features, and groundwater remedial systems.
  • Preparing and performing technical reviews of reports on groundwater modeling, groundwater monitoring, site characterization, risk assessment, permit application, and remediation.
