Greenville, South Carolina, May 9, 2024 – Several SynTerra professionals are scheduled to present at the World of Coal Ash (WOCA) Conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Coal combustion products (CCP) experts from around the world will gather at the WOCA Conference from May 13 through May 16, 2024, to share ideas about the science of and applications for CCP. The American Coal Ash Association (ACAA) and the University of Kentucky Center for Applied Energy Research (CAER) organized the event.
“WOCA is the place to be every 2 years to hear about the latest innovations in the field of CCP-related science,” said Jerry Wylie, Vice President of Sciences at SynTerra. “We look forward to sharing some of the exciting work that SynTerra has been doing for our power utility partners.”
SynTerra contributors and presentation titles for the WOCA event are listed below:
- Johnathan Ebenhack, P.G. and Jerry Wylie, P.G. – “CCR Landfills – Part 1: Groundwater Considerations during Design and Construction”
- Jerry Wylie, P.G. and Rong Yu, P.E., Ph.D. – “CCR Landfills – Part 2: Using a Graphical Interpretation with Model Simulations to Predict Groundwater Elevations During and After CCR Landfill Construction”
- Rong Yu., P.E., Ph.D. – “Managing Unexpected Outcomes from Remediation in Fractured Bedrock Geological Settings – How a Revision in the Conceptual Site Model Helped Resolve Unforeseen Conditions”
- Tim Grant, Kathy Webb, P.G., Tammy Jett, Bill Miller, P.E., and Bruce Hensel (Electric Power Research Institute) – “Approaches for Low-Impact Groundwater Remediation”
- Kelly Ferri, Craig Eady, P.G., and Kathy Webb, P.G. – “Effective Remedial Measure: Evaluating Monitored Natural Attenuation Paired with Source Control”
SynTerra scientists, geologists, and engineers have the knowledge and technical diversity to navigate the challenging U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Coal Combustion Residual (CCR) Rule regulations. Because each CCP site is different, SynTerra partners with clients to provide comprehensive, integrated solutions that meet compliance requirements.
