Industrial Compliance
SynTerra helps clients maintain compliance and reduce risk.
SynTerra helps companies in highly regulated industries achieve environmental compliance while enhancing the efficiency and flexibility of operations. To do so, we maintain a thorough understanding of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and permitting programs pertaining to water and air quality; soil; hazardous waste and emissions; and more.
In all our solutions, we consider site- and company-specific economic factors and use cost-optimized compliance methods. We conduct environmental audits and assessments, develop and implement mitigation plans, and provide data-backed strategies for risk management and environmental sustainability. Our solutions help clients operate responsibly and competitively.

Client challenge
The client — a leading provider of adhesives, coatings, and polymers — sought help in the preparation of applications for air construction permits to install new equipment and relocate existing equipment. The client needed a partner with expertise in the Title V permit application process and familiarity with air-quality requirements. The work would apply to multiple locations.
SynTerra solution
SynTerra developed estimates of process point source, evaluated fugitive emissions, and prepared emission inventory for submittal to the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC). To demonstrate compliance with air-toxicity requirements, SynTerra conducted ISCST dispersion modeling.
In addition to developing and implementing a successful compliance strategy, SynTerra acted as a liaison between regulators and the client. During this successful partnership, SynTerra has:
- Prepared miscellaneous construction applications that gained approval.
- Prepared a successful flexible Title V permit application with alternate operating scenarios.
- Modeled facilities for prevention of significant deterioration (PSD).
- Achieved compliance with National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS).
